Azumi is an ikebana master and artist with over 30 years of experience, working across Japan, Europe, and Australia. Her contemporary Ikebana Free style is rooted in authentic Japanese aesthetics, while allowing space for individuality and modern expression.

Azumi describes her work as “speaking in  flowers”—using ikebana as a visual language to express ideas, emotions, and inner feelings. Through her art and teaching, she helps each person translate their own voice into form, guided by nature.

Azumi is an amazing floral artist whose designs have a balanced aesthetic combination of the traditional Ikebana and the modern floral design. I had the ‘6 weeks Design Principles in Floristry’ course with her and thoroughly enjoyed the course! The course was very informative as well as interesting; I enjoyed both the theory and practical parts. Azumi taught me how to appreciate the uniqueness of each flower/branch/leaf and showcase their characteristics in harmony in the design. I’ve also learnt that a good design is not always packed with flowers but rather everything has its purpose in the design. I strongly recommend this course to all the flower lovers who want to take their floral designs to the next level.

Loved this course! Azumi is a very patient and thoughtful tutor which makes it a great studio environment to learn in. The design principles have given me much more confidence in my ability to build a creative and unique display, using features including grouping, ratios and visual weight. This was the third course I booked with Azumi and it did not disappoint - the classes were really interesting and engaging, and I came away with an opened mind about floral design and how to draw inspiration from the world around me.

This was a wonderful course from beginning to end and exceeded my expectations. Azumi is a floral artist who imparts her love of nature and knowledge with sensitivity, generosity and patience. The theory and practical work were equally engaging. It was a pleasure to work with such beautifully selected flowers and greenery in the calm of the welcoming studio. The course helped de-mystify asymmetrical and more refined arrangements, opening my eyes to a new way of seeing. I was only sorry the course came to an end! Thank you, Azumi.
