what students are saying
The sun is shining and Summer is coming! Let's get out and see some blooms or as we call it in Japanese, Hanami.
Azumi will demonstrate how to create a nice, simple floral design using tableware as an alternative to vases. Get ideas and tips to design a centre-piece that will brighten up your kitchen table.
Some hands-on experience will give a good idea of the design process.
Love the ceramics Azumi is using?
All ceramic pieces are made by local Japanese artist Terunobu Hirata. His work is simple, delicate and inspired by Japanese pottery styles. You will be able to buy these pieces on the day. This is a great opportunity to purchase Christmas gifts or something special for yourself.

Ikebana Studio MA
Azumi is an ikebana master and artist with over 30 years of experience, working across Japan, Europe, and Australia. Her contemporary Ikebana Free style is rooted in authentic Japanese aesthetics, while allowing space for individuality and modern expression.
Azumi describes her work as “speaking in flowers”—using ikebana as a visual language to express ideas, emotions, and inner feelings. Through her art and teaching, she helps each person translate their own voice into form, guided by nature.
